Super Heroes II: Batman and Spider-Man

Unlike Superman, Batman is a hero in the dark. Due to his parents' death in maraud, Bruce Wayne started to be the nightmare of bad guys. Actually, Batman has no super power, and all he has is "Waynes are rich". Therefore, he catches bad people with cool cars and fancy technology, so he is like 007 in super heroes. Oh, I forgot... His most powerful weapon is the hate in his mind. Maybe it's just corresponding to his character, almost all his enemy have mental problems. Also different to most super heroes, his romantic history is complicated, Catwoman, Batgirl, and others... BTW, the character, Robin, is also a special point in Batman's stories.

Though Batman is going to become the super hero who has most movies, his movies never bring lots of money for companies. Those movies are much worse than the cartoon series. (The dark angel of revenge is gone in the movies...) Maybe that's the reason why the leading actor of each movie is different... (No one wanna be link with his movie any more...)

Peter Parker is much lucky than Bruce... He is the almost famous super hero belong Marvel. Of course, his movies are also the symbolic movies about super heroes in these few years, though in his stories, he is a poor photographer in a post office with sarcastic boss. However, who will care that, he has better movie producers, directors, and writers to make he become popular on silver screen. Also, even he is not going to have beautiful future with MJ in comic books, I don't think he will break up with MJ in movie... Tobey and Kirsten are always ready to have more Spider-Man movies, if it still has such box-office.

Well, about Spider-Man's stories, actually I almost only got from movies... Fortunately, unlike most movie series, the episode 2 is even better the episode 1. Depending on the great setup of stories, Spider-Man become much real than other super heroes on silver screen. People found identification from the weakness and paradox between Peter and Spider-Man and followed the stories to feel the path to become better. It's also a important reason for people keep seeing movies--Finding good things in our life.

Super Heroes I: Superman

I watched a old movie series, "Superman", in these two weeks. Though it's a long time ago when I watched those movies in the past, there're still many scenes I remember, of course, they include the time travel by rotating the Earth from the East to the West and the one with Superman become a normal person for Lois. These movies made the leading actor, Christopher Reeve, became a famous actor in the world, even after his accident. And the music of these movie were made by the most important movie theme composer, John Williams, who let people remember "Star Wars", "E.T.", and "Jurassic Park" from ears. If we talk about the special effect, this series may be incredible at 1980s, and I am very surprised that from the episode 1 to the episode 3, the movies are about 2 hours long! (The episode 4 is just about one and half hours.) They must spend a lot of money to make these movies... Even the episode 3 is actually a very boring movie... Maybe that's why the episode 4 become a shorter movie and its story is more compact...

Well, Superman is a strong, honor, loyal, and kind person. He leaved his homeland, Krypton, when he was just born, and under the radiation of our Sun, he has the super power. His romantic story is very simple that Lois is always there, and he is very lucky that he already doesn't have to keep his secret identity from the woman he loves by the writer's kindness. It may make other super heroes jealous! At least, Clark has a glasses which makes Bruse and Peter feel they are fool to wear so much... His stories are shown in many kinds of media, comic books, cartoons, TV films, movies. The 5th movie is also discussed for many years... (but it seems Batman has already gotten his 5th movie first and becomes the super hero who has most movies...)

He serves the same comic company with Batman (DC comics) for almost 70 years, but he is still the Americans' most favorite super hero... (He wears the flag color of United States...) Now, he still hides in Plant Everyday and is always ready to save the world!

Be More or Be Less

Fathers and Daughters

For many years, I think I will become a father who may overprotect his daughter. It's also can be shown in the movie I like.

A month ago, I saw a movie, "Jersey Girl". Hmm... it's a movie casted by Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler (yup, Jennifer Lopez is also in this movie, too) , and its user rating score in IMDb is about 6.5, not very high, so people may think it is the romantic movie in their first look, but actually the most part of this movie is talking about the relationship between a lost-wife-man, his father and his daughter. The character casted by Ben Affleck (I can't remember his name...) gave up his career and moved back to New Jersey for taking care his daughter after his wife's death as his daughter born. Well, to tell the truth, the story of this movie is very general, the struggle between career and family, blah blah blah, and finally the family is the most important. Yes, the typical mode Hollywood sale of idea of family, but I still buy it... For me, the acting between the man and his daughter (casted by Raquel Castro) is very touched. Hmm... of course, Ben's acting is just OK, but Raquel's Gertie is very natural. She was so ten-years-old in this movie. Well, that's so wonderful and perfect, kids should be kids... (Dakota Fanning's character is always too smart to be a kid.)

Another example will be the movie I saw today, "A Walk to Remember". (Actually, I did saw the ending months ago on TV, and I didn't pay much attention on this movie.) It's a truly romantic movie talking about a teenage couple. A boy was changed by a girl, and they falled in love, but dramaticly the girl actually had incuralbe blood cancer two year ago, so There's no happy ending in the beginning of this relation. However, the boy still loved the girl and try to accomplish the girl' wish before she died. Well, all kinds of romantic movie you need is here, including wonderful songs. By the way, the way of the director telling this story is veery smothly especially with the music, it can't be better. But, the part almost made me cry is when the girls father sitting around the girls bed, he told her as he lost her mom, he couldn't see her face for several days until he feeled he loves his wife and his daughter, then he cryed out. Any way, though it's almost too sweet, but it's still a good movie.

Well, one day I maybe will become the most tough girl's father for boys and I still have to find a good boy to tell him take care my treasure. Hmm... actually, before that, I have to find a girl who will love me and wanna marry me... So there are still lots of jobs to become that way...

Store Denser, Separate Smaller, and Detect Lighter

There is a collection of articles about the most famous scientist in last century, Albert Einstein, in "Scientific American" this month. (Well, for English version, it's last month.) In those articles, there is one talk about 3 important inventions which based on Einstein's work.

The first is a electronic circuit which can control the spin of electrons by the effect of Relativity. The basic idea of this device is that when high speed electrons pass though the electric field applied form the gate of the circuit, for the electrons, part of the electric field will become magnetic field and that will rotate the direction of spin of the electrons which pass though gate. As the applied electric field is gone, the rotation of spin will stop. Therefore, if we properly control the applied time of electric field, we can "write bit" the direction of spin and by "read bit" by detecting the spin of electrons. And it will become a high density storage method, because more precisely we can detect the direction of spin, more "digital state" of spin we can separate, and that means more densely we can can store. According to the author, scientists can do it quite well by modern technology.

The second is a sorting method which can separate nano-meter-scale bio-molecular by the effect of Browian motion. Small particles in fluid will be strike by many surrounding fluid molecule, then randomly "jump" in the fluid, and this phenomenon is called as Browian motion. The devise, "Browian ratchets", is a micro-channel which many nano-boards with same orientation are within and the samples and fluid flow pass in different direction. As the samples in different sizes pass the micro-channel, the smaller one will jump more by the effect of Browian motion, and there will be more chances, they will guided by the nano-boards. On the contrary, the larger one will not jump as largely as smaller one and pass with the flow. Then, after the trip the micro-channel, the larger and smaller samples will go on different road.

The last is a gravity detector based on Bose-Einstein-condense, which I have heard about that many years age. It's a technology to observe the population distribution of atoms in very low temperature that makes them show the property of Boson.

Above all, I think all those interesting inventions is based on the phenomena of pure physics, and that's why those devices are beautiful. As a philosophizer ever said, "fundamentals are the building blocks of fun!"
